The electric fatbike is an excellent ride on the mountain terrain of Lapland. Our traditional favorite Pulmankijärventie is a great experience for a bike ride! Utsjoki has hundreds of kilometers of unmarked mountain bike trails, winning detailed activities in the / Cycling section and the Utsjoki tourist website. Gliding Snowshoes

With gliding snowshoes, you can move easily and have fun in Nuorgam’s nature. They are wider and shorter than normal touring skis and they have a skin fur base on the bottom, which increases grip. Compared to snowshoes, gliding snowshoes modeled on skis enable the skier to progress and even go down hills. In terms of carrying capacity, they are similar to traditional skis. Although gliding snowshoes look like skis, they are more like snowshoes. Ease, fun and convenient transportability make gliding snowshoes a comfortable alternative for winter activities. You don’t need separate boots for gliding snowshoes, but normal shoes go with handy universal bindings.

The rental of gliding snowshoes includes adjustable poles. If you lack the necessary equipment for outdoor activities, ask us. You can also rent pulkas from us for longer trips or for pulling children. We currently have seven gliding snowshoes in our selection.

Things to take for trip

Weather-appropriate gloves: Ski gloves or warm mittens protect the hands. It is often windy in the fell, so bring extra gloves if necessary.

Clothing: Technical clothing appropriate for the weather is preferred. Dress in layers, for example a merino wool layer as the lowest layer, a light intermediate layer on top of that and top clothes as the top layer. If necessary, you can rent a warm outdoor overall from us.

Footwear: Sufficiently warm footwear that can fit wool socks.

Sports or skiing glasses: It is a good idea to bring sports glasses or similar glasses to protect your eyes from wind and gusts.

Drinks and food: Always bring something to drink and something to eat.

Backpack: Snacks, spare clothes and other equipment. Fire making equipment.

Mobile phone: Fully charge the battery. Download the terrain map and mark your starting point on it. Remember that there are many areas in the wilderness where mobile phones do not work, so please only move in those areas where you have the necessary navigation equipment and sufficient knowledge.

Snowshoes

With snowshoes, you can explore Nuorgam’s nature where there are no trails. We rent light snowshoes.

The snowshoes have easily adjustable bindings and work well with a sturdy hiking boot or winter boot. We recommend a sturdy shoe for snowshoeing. A high stem is useful especially in deep snow.

Adjustable poles are included in the rental of snowshoes. We are happy to advise good routes for snowshoeing. When planning a route, keep in mind that snowshoeing is heavier and slower than regular walking. However, snowshoes are good for walking even in deep snow and can also be reached comfortably in steeper places.

Things to take for trip

You should bring a snack for the trip. Cold weather consumes more energy, so be prepared for it. Hot cocoa or juice in a thermos tastes great on a snowshoe trip. Bring a cell phone. In the cold, the battery wears out faster, so you should always charge your cell phone before the trip and keep it warm. It is also advisable to pack spare clothes for breaks in the backpack, as it can easily become cold when stopping for a longer period of time.

Touring skis

You can get anywhere in the Kaldoaivi wilderness with touring skis. We rent light Fischer steel-edged touring skis. Easy-skin rising hair makes them versatile for off-trail use. Fischer is a sturdy, durable and light lubricated touring ski.

The rental of touring skis includes adjustable poles. We are happy to advise good routes for cross-country skiing.

The skis are equipped with bindings that can be easily fitted to your shoes.
